Nsambya Women's Project
Income Generation
Nsambya Village in Kampala, Uganda
Since 2007, the Nsambya Women's Project has generated income for over 30 families living in the Nsambya slums of Kampala, Uganda. By providing fair market value for their beautiful, handcrafted jewelry, the ladies are able to afford much needed HIV medication as well as school fees so that their children are not forced to labor for school fees.
Making Beautiful Beads from Recycled Paper
These pictures illustrate the process they use to make the beads out of recycled paper. All of the materials are safe and environmentally friendly.
Each bead is sealed with a drop of glue.
Each strip is rolled into a bead..
The beads are left to dry, removed from the string, and are ready to be crafted into beautiful necklaces and bracelets.
Their Children
By supporting this project, you are also supporting the women's children. Due to the success of the project, these are some of the children who are now able to go to school.
