Tamara White-BradfordCo-Founder, Chief Executive Officer
Tamara White-Bradford earned her Bachelors degree in History with a concentration in African Studies at Rutgers University in 1995 and her Masters in Instructional Design at Western Governors University. She taught Social Studies for 17 years and during the last six, she wrote and taught a full year African Studies curriculum. In 2007, AsOne was conceptualized by her students in the spirit of ubuntu; the sub-Saharan philosophy that we are diminished as human beings when one person suffers. After much research and many trips to Uganda, she incorporated international development and sustainability into her African Studies course. AsOne immediately began work on two projects: construction of a piggery to eradicate child labor at St. Lawanga Kalooli Senior Secondary School in Mulajje Village of Luweero District and the Nsmabya Women's Project to generate income for a group of HIV positive widows and their children. AsOne has since built Sekito Primary School in Wobulenzi Town. Tamara has since stopped teaching as is currently devoting all of her energies to AsOne Global.
